About Counselling

I offer sessions for Individuals, Couples and Families On-line via Zoom or In-person on Pender Island, BC.

My approach weaves together family systems theory, attachment theory, somatic therapies, parts work, emotionally focused work, mindfulness, narrative and trauma informed approaches. I also enjoy working from a transpersonal perspective, meaning that I believe us humans have a spiritual component. This said, it is not necessary that we include spirituality if you believe differently. I deeply appreciate diversity and sessions are always client led. Benefits of Receiving Counselling

  1. Increase Self-knowledge

    • Knowing how our experiences have shaped us, what our triggers are, how we cope and our weaknesses gives us the opportunity to notice when we are reacting from those places. Knowing gives us choice and opens the door to greater possibilities.

  2. Cultivate healthy relationships

    • Humans are relational beings, we need meaningful connection with other people. We need to feel that we are cared for and that we belong to thrive

  3. Improve self-esteem and confidence

    • As we experience consistent compassionate support we begin to feel seen, heard and understood. We start trusting that we matter, not just for our accomplishments but simply for who we are. This is the foundation of worthiness.

  4. Increase emotional awareness and compassion

    • approaching emotions with curiosity, rather than bypassing or suppressing them, allows us to experience and attend to them without being defined by them.

  5. Become intrinsically motivated

    • When the incentive to take action, to fulfill commitments or to complete tasks comes simply from knowing and aligning with our values, interests or enjoyment life flows with greater ease. We find internal validation and increased life satisfaction.

  6. Increase agency and ability to advocate for yourself

    • Knowing that you have the capacity to influence your own thoughts and behaviors along with having faith in yourself allows you to feel stable through conflict and change.
